Fiction Book Club

Join us for the Fiction Book Club this October when we'll be reading Defending Jacob by William Landry. The book follows Assistant District Attorney Andy Barber as he is blindsided when his teenage son, Jacob, is charged with murder. Jacob insists he is innocent, and Andy believes him. But as the trial intensifies, damning facts and shocking revelations surface. Copies will be available at the library.

Makerspace Open House

Tuesday, November 13, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Free; no registration required

Come on in and try something new! Here at the library we have a Makerspace full of equipment, tools and crafting supplies available for your use. This open house is a great opportunity to tour the space if you've never been here before, or to try out a new piece of equipment with help nearby. From high tech to traditional, we probably have something that will float your boat! Registration is not required, but sign up if you'd like an email reminder about this event.

Upcycled T-Shirt Infinity Scarves

Thursday, November 15, 10:30-1:30 p.m.

It's that time of year again, but don't pack away all those great summer t-shirts...Turn them into a fabulous scarf you can wear all winter long! Bring in at least 2 old t-shirts (they need to be that stretchy, t-shirt fabric and the more shirts you have, the more variety your scarf will have) then cut them up and sew the pieces back together to make a patchwork scarf. This is a great project for all sewing skill levels, including "I've never used a sewing machine in my life!" Seriously, no sewing experience is necessary. Please register as space is limited.

Mystery Book Club

Thriving Through the College Admissions Journey: A Workshop for Parents and Teens

Your Eco-Friendly gift wrap can be any color you choose, but it will all be GREEN! Come in and learn how to make gift bags, gift boxes and festive bows out of recycled materials. Please bring in one toilet paper or paper towel roll for yourself. We'll have everything else you need, but if you have any old newspaper funny pages or other fun paper, bring it in! Mindfulness for Children

Wednesdays, November 28, December 5, December 12, 4:00-5:00 p.m.

This 3-part workshop for children ages 3-6 and a caregiver will encourage relaxation by engaging children’s senses through activities. Sheryl comes prepared with a bag of sensory props and uses different objects to engage and help the children practice how to be more in the present moment. Please register as space is limited. Glass Etching Workshop

Thursday, November 29, 10:30-12:30 p.m.

Learn the basics of designing, printing and using vinyl stencils to make personalized and unique etched glass objects. Each participant will go home with one piece of etched glassware and the skills to make more at home, just in time for making holiday gifts! Due to the harsh nature of the etching cream, participants must be 18 or older. Please register as space is limited.

3D Printed Holiday Ornaments

This is the perfect program for adults and teens who want to get started on learning 3D Design--or for those who just want to make a custom 3D printed holiday ornament! Participants will each have their own laptop computer and, with step-by-step guidance, will design their own unique ornament. Pick a color before you go and the ornaments will be printed and ready for pick up within a few days. Participants 15 years of age and older are welcome. Please register as space is extremely limited.

Yoga for Kids

Winter Wreath Workshop!

Join us for an evening of crafty comradery and go home with a festive wreath you made yourself! We'll all start with burlap, but after that the sky's the limit! We'll have lots of fun materials to choose from so everyone's wreath will be unique.

We're asking for a donation for this workshop to help cover the cost of materials. Space is limited. Please register in person by Thursday, November 29th (with $10 cash) at the reference desk, downstairs at the library.

Pillowcases

Bring your own fabric and go home with two unique, custom pillowcases and the skills to make more. Make a couple of pillowcases for yourself--or they also make great gifts, especially for kids! (If you don't have a sewing machine and end up wanting to make more of these, we always have a sewing machine set up and ready to go in the Makerspace, or you can check one out of our "Unusual Items" section to take home.) No sewing experience necessary. Please register as space is limited. When registering, please make note of what materials you’ll need to bring along with you.

Copley Cats Holiday Concert
