My Sour Mood

How often do you withdraw to a quiet place? Does it help?

Luke 5:16 (NLT) But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.

My mood matched the blustery, drizzly 42 degrees as I drove away from my writers’ retreat in the beautiful hills of New Hampshire and it grew darker with each mile (my mood, that is, not the weather). While on retreat, I had forgotten my cares in the outside world in order to focus on writing. Those responsibilities weighed on my soul as I drew closer to home.

Recognizing my dread in returning was eye opening. Why such a sour mood? What’s the trouble? God and I had 2 ½ hours of good reflection and prayer.
