OPINION...

Saturday, December 4th was a fantastic day – it marked the return of MEMO’s Holiday Parade!

One of the weekend’s festive events, the parade is a longstanding tradition in Medfield. MEMO volunteers organize and run the parade and it is paid for by the businesses that sponsor the floats.

The excitement kicked off with the sirens and lights of the Medfield Police and Fire Departments. Did you catch the holiday lights on the fire engine? We enjoyed the creativity of the girl scout troops as they marched in their costumes of choice. Every year they seem to top the last! So much fun to see each troop. Boy scouts joined the parade fun as well. Two of our selectmen were able to join the parade – thank you Gus Murby and Pete Peterson.

MEMO member Brian McSharry of Closet & Storage Concepts had the cutest car in the parade! The presents on top of his teeny car were taller than the car. Another MEMO member, Mike Lueders of Lueders Companies was driving his sweet red antique truck – it’s a parade favorite! The Eyemobile was sponsored and driven by the Medfield Lions.

Groups from two MEMO members, MDA Studios (Medfield Dance Academy), and Pointe Premier School of Dance, danced their way down the street. The Medfield High School Band was a lively favorite. It was great to hear them again.

Thank you to all of the businesses that sponsored or created a float – and to the MHS Best Buddies group that rode on a few of them. We enjoyed the Best Buddies’ handmade holiday signs. Everyone was festive and in great spirits. Our thanks to Rockland Trust, Butterfly Tree, William Raveis, Jack Conway, Needham Bank, Hurley Testa, Alison Brown Realtor® and Maureen Barrett Realtor®, and MEMO. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus and their lucky elves were a wonderful way to end the parade. Thanks for visiting us from the North Pole!

Many thanks to MEMO’s Parade Chair Alison Brown Realtor® and her group of MEMO elves. It was a fabulous parade, one of our largest ever, and the return of a well-loved Medfield tradition.
