Our planning begins with an expert appraisal by the Public Archaeological Laboratory of Pawtucket, RI of our never-before-seen, boxed artifacts. These came from the 1976 dig behind the Peak House and an upcoming 2021 dig in the cellar and near the outside well. When the Heritage Center opens, you’ll discover selected artifacts from 34 boxes in imaginative, rotating, interactive exhibits.
Perhaps you’re curious about the improvements you’ve seen at the Peak House in the last two years. Did you notice the new red cedar roof and custom colonial rain gutter and downspout? We hope you didn’t miss the rebuilt stone walls, or the fieldstone walkway and garden edging or the locust railing and posts at the front steps. Early builders used locust because it lasts outside without rot for a hundred years. There’s now a picnic table in the back yard for you to enjoy our expanded grounds and authentic colonial kitchen garden. One of our local artists has even created teaching panels for you to learn more about what you’re seeing in our outdoor gallery. Our next phase of development for the Peak House Heritage Center is inside the building. This is where you can become a ‘history hero.’ We need your help in raising $22,500 by December 31, 2021 to curate artifacts and develop interactive exhibits that will delight visitors of all ages and bring cultural and financial benefit to the Town of Medfield. You’ll want to catch the stories behind these artifacts when our exhibits open May 2022.
Thank you for your generous support of Medfield’s most iconic house by December 31, 2021.
Future generations will thank you, too.
You can donate here at: https://peakhouseheritagecenter.org/support/donate/ to make sure that the Peak House Heritage Center exhibits open next Spring.
Special thanks from all of us!
