On Sunday, October 4th, the family of Ed Doherty, Members of Medfield TV, Members of the Board of Selectmen, and friends in the Medfield community shared in the Dedication of a Park Bench which will bear Ed’s name.
Ed Doherty was the host of Medfield TV shows for over 10 years and was part of the Medfield TV Board of Directors. He passed away just under two years ago, but his spirit and his dedication to Medfield TV and the community was not forgotten.

“Eye on Medfield” and ”Sharing Stories” were two of the shows he hosted. These shows were his way of sharing what was going on in Medfield. “Eye on Medfield” focused on countless important community events. Executive Director, Aditi Thatte told me “Ed thought it was important to profile what was going on in our community and highlight efforts of our community members to create such events. He was curious about the community and knew that others were too.”
Ed was so loved by the people at Medfield TV, and the community that they wanted to honor his memory and create this park. Currently, the park contains new plantings, and a granite park bench. At the dedication, a rendering of a sculpture which is scheduled to be installed in about a month, was shown. Lucille Fisher thanked the Town of Medfield for their work in creating and maintaining the park, The Garden Continuum, MEMO and Medfield TV.

Board members, Lucille Fisher, Patty Lynch, Board Director David Maxson, spoke at the Dedication, as well as Selectman, Mark Fisher.
Thatte continued, “We have kept Ed’s spirit alive and continue the ”Eye on Medfield” series with Tom Sweeney who is a long time Medfield resident and Ed’s friend. Ed certainly was a people person. What a treasure these shows have become”.
