Police Logs, June 22-29: Raccoons, Foxes, Squirrels, Bats and … Bears

Highlights from Medfield police and fire logs.

Friday, June 22:

8:32 a.m. – Report of an injured fox near North Meadow and Hospital Roads. 

9:02 a.m. – Report of a dead raccoon on Main Street.

10:20 a.m. – Suspicious activity on Birch Road.  Caller reported a car parked on the road and two males got out and went into the woods.  Police located one of the males.

2:58 p.m. – Report of wires down on Hillcrest Road, and a tree on fire.

4:26 p.m.  – Report of a sick bat on Main Street.

4:27 p.m. – A Medical Alert bracelet was activated on Linden Court; no response from homeowner.  Homeowner pushed Medical Alert because she was locked out of her house.

6:22 p.m. – Report that a rabbit was hit and was not dead.  Animal Control Officer reported that a hawk beat her to the scene.

Saturday, June 23:

3:01 a.m. – Motor vehicle accident on High Street.  Caller reported a car hit a tree in front of his house. 

7:08 a.m. – Flint Lock Lane resident reported a sick bat in her house.

9:15 a.m. – An Orchard Street resident reported a black bear just walked across her property and went into the woods, possibly going into Noon Hill.

9:19 a.m.  -- An Indian Hill resident reported a black bear came out of the woods behind his house, walked across his lawn, went onto a neighbor’s property, then into the woods.

10:17 a.m. -- Cell phone caller reported that a black bear just crossed South Street and into the woods.

10:26 a.m. – A Granite Street resident reported a bear was just in her backyard.  The Animal Control Officer and Environmental Police were contacted. 

2:51 p.m. – Report of vandalism on Main Street, someone is picking off the art work from the side of a building.

7:20 p.m. – A Flint Lock Lane resident reported a bat in her fireplace.  Animal Control removed the bat.

Sunday, June 24

1:17 a.m. – Motor vehicle accident with personal injury on High Street. 

3:37 p.m. – A Miller Street resident reported a squirrel inside her house.

Monday, June 25

8:37 a.m. – Caller reported a snake in a trailer at the American Legion.  Animal Control notified.

5:22 p.m. – Ambulance was called to Wild Holly Lane after a resident was bitten by three bees.

Tuesday, June 26

9:57 a.m. – Fire reported in the trees on Elm Street.  NStar was notified.

Wednesday, June 27

9:48 a.m. – Report of ducks at Blake Middle School.  Caller reported two little ducks in the parking lot with no mother around.  Animal Control picked up the baby ducks.

Thursday, June 28

10:43 a.m. – Caller in the Shaw’s Plaza reported a dog in a motor vehicle with its windows up.

12:30 p.m. – Motor vehicle accident at Main and North Streets.

2:58 p.m. – Report of vandalism on Haven Road where a caller said his air conditioner unit was stolen from his house and there is damage.

3:57 p.m. – Motor vehicle accident with personal injury at Wagon Road and Hartford Street.

6:45 p.m. – A South Street resident reported a chipmunk in her house.

Friday, June 29

8:15 a.m. – Report of vandalism in the CVS parking lot.  A caller reported someone stole a credit card from his wallet.

10:48 a.m. – Motor vehicle accident at Spring and South Streets.

6:48 p.m. – Motor vehicle accident at Spring Street and Preservation Way.

9:08 p.m. – Harding Street resident reported a sick raccoon in his back yard.  Animal Control notified.
