Police Logs: Man Steals Video Tapes From Shaw's, Returns Them Later

Medfield Police Chief Robert E. Meaney Jr. reports no charges filed as Shaw's pleased with outcome.

A white male reportedly stole video tapes from on Main Street on Jan. 4 and later returned the tapes, according to Medfield Police Chief Robert E. Meaney Jr.

Shaw's manager Donald Forrester called on Jan. 4 at 8:01 a.m. and requested to see an officer to discuss the theft of multiple video tapes from the store, according to police logs.

Forrester described the thief as a white male wearing a hoody and drove off in a grey  2006 Toyota Corolla, according to police logs. He was reportedly headed east toward Dover on Main Street and Westwood police were notified to keep an eye out for the vehicle. Forrester dropped off a copy of the store's video tape later that day.

Meaney said that Shaw's video system and the fact that they had the license plate number of the vehicle allowed them to identify the individual. He would not release the name of the male.

"He returned and/or paid for the videos he took," Meaney said. "No charges were filed as Shaw's was satisfied with the outcome."
