On Monday, 9/21/21, a wreath was place near the Sgt. Dan McCarthy monument at the Public Safety Bldg, marking the 21st anniversary of his passing. McCarthy died in the line of duty on September 21,2000.
Medfield Police Dept., residents and McCarthy's family honored Sgt. McCarthy last September marking the 20th anniversary of his passing.

Remembering Medfield Police Sgt. Dan McCarthy
Fellow Police Remember and Honor their friend, Danny... Monday, September 21, 2020 marked the 20th anniversary of Medfield Police Sergeant Daniel McCarthy's tragic passing.
In remembering and honoring Sgt. McCarthy, a wreath was placed next to McCarthy's memorial located in front of the Public Safety Building on the 20th anniversary.

Those in attendance were Medfield Deputy Chief, Larz Anderson, Medfield Sgt. Burgess, Medfield Officer Flaherty, Medfield Officer Manganello, Walpole Police Chief Carmichael, Walpole Deputy Chief Kelleher and Medfield Officer Al Manganello.
The officers who took part in this ceremony from Walpole all grew up in Medfield and knew Sgt. McCarthy. "September 21st is always a difficult day here. We remember Danny, but at the same time our hearts break for Kim and the children. Unfortunately, it reminds you just how fragile life is." said Deputy Anderson on this anniversary.
In June 2019, the Medfield Police Department along with the family of Sgt. McCarthy gathered to unveil the memorial monument.
