Shake Off Indifference

One way to shake off indifference is to get with Jesus. I am flying on eagle's wings after rededicating myself to daily devotion time.

Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

I love when God sends a clear message! He often whacks me over the head because I don’t respond to subtleties. Sunday was one of those times. God reminded me of my highest priority.

I recently confessed that I’ve been irregular in my personal devotions, striving to exercise and attend to some minor aches and pains. I’d been multitasking God in when possible, but at the end of last week, I resumed my personal devotions and rejuvenated Seeds of Scripture.

It felt so good! I was filled, energized, and light. This is when I know God calls me to this ministry. On the way to church, I remarked how I loved having time to contemplate and write about Scripture.

Worship began by praising God who lifts us up on wings like eagles. Exactly! I was soaring after my morning in His Word. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgyokeWf54k)

The sermon suggested that one way to shake off indifference is to get with Jesus. Time with Him changes us. Amen to that! Jesus broadens our busy, narrow, self-focused view to look outward – to see beauty, the needs of others, and God at work. “I hear you God.” I thought, “You’ll lift me up every time I get with Jesus”.

God continued speaking to me as the next song proclaimed:
Hungry, I come to you
for I know You satisfy
I am weary but I know
Your touch restores my life (Hillsong)

Exercise helps. Doctors help. But God must be my highest priority in self-care.

Shake off indifference. Get with Jesus.

Like a productive garden, a rich relationship should be tended regularly. To be reminded to plant His Word in your heart, follow me on Twitter @Cathy_Chung or subscribe at Seeds of Scripture.
