For 25 years, Angie Typadis has been the teacher and the anchor of the Medfield Integrated Preschool program at the Memorial School. Over these many years, she has touched many lives. She is much admired, praised and loved by her co-workers, parents, and the Medfield community.
Angie, along with her aides, Maureen Guglietta and Sara Zrike, saw their final class of “big kid” pre-schoolers graduate last Thursday and Friday. Their last day of classes for the younger pre-schoolers is this Wednesday, June 25. As this school year comes to a close, these three amazing women will all retire. They were a "team" as teachers/aides and now they will retire "as a team"!
Angie has taught over 500 children in her 25 years at the helm of the Integrated Preschool Program, and has watched them move up the ranks to Kindergarten, Elementary school, Middle school and graduate from High school. She has been an instrumental figure in the lives of these children, but she is humble and modest and always credits the “teamwork” aspect of the classroom, therefore you will never hear her boast about the positive impact she has made on so many children.
Maureen has been Angie's trusted aide for 20 years. Having had the pleasure of being in their classroom, I can honestly say that they are the true definition of unity and harmony. Sara completes the "team" and has been in the classroom with Angie and Maureen for 15 years. Sara and Maureen could finish each others sentences, that is how connected they are to one another. In the classroom, when a student responds well to high energy, Maureen is the one. She is vibrant and lively with students that respond well to that style; while Sara is reserved and quiet and is perfect with the students that need that kind of instructor. The balance they offer to their students is more than all inclusive.
This is truly the end of an era. All three of these amazing women will retire together.....their years of experience with children and in the classroom have proven them to be amazing teachers and incredible role models.
In retirement, all three of the ladies expressed excitement about having more time with their families! Angie plans to travel to the West Coast, read, read, and read some more. She is hoping to take long walks whenever the mood strikes her and maybe even try her hand at golf!
Maureen plans to spend much time with her grandchildren, and hopes to travel with her husband visiting their daughter and family. She also plans to read as many books as she can, garden, volunteer and do some party planning!
Lastly, Sara is excited about having much more time to spend with her three grandchildren and her loving husband, but also plans to work a few days a week as an aide at the Hurley School in the South End helping Spanish special needs children.
If you should bump into Angie, Maureen or Sara, please wish them well in their new ventures, but also please say "thank you" for all the years they gave to the children of Medfield.
