A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"In 1916 the Medfield Anti-Suffrage Association was formed with Mrs. Granville Mitchell, President and Mrs. Davenport Brown, secretary. The Anti-Suffrage Association was formed to counter the Suffrage Movement that was gaining strength across the country, trying to pass an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to give Women the right to vote. Interesting, that all the members of the anti-suffrage group were from the wealthiest in town. The Medfield group later joined a league for mutual interest and support with associations from Dover, Millis and Sherborn."
