A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"In 1818 Wesley Balch started a bakery business on Main Street, opposite Brook Street. He built a two-storied brick building with large ovens which were heated by burning bundles of small sticks in them before the bread was put in. The bakery employed several journeymen and apprentices. Three breadcarts sold Balch’s goods as far away as Franklin, Canton and Attleboro."
