Thirty Fifth Week, Tuesday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"In 1810 David Fairbanks, who had bought the Wheelock estate, started a tavern where the town hall now stands, and also kept a store on the corner of North and Main Street, where Starbucks is today. Fairbanks bought large quantities of straw braid and employed a number of women and girls at sewing it into bonnets. He had a boarding-house for his employees. The bonnets were carried from Medfield to Providence by ox-teams, then to New York City by water. Fairbanks was the business man of the town during that time period."
