A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"In the Presidential election of 1888, 320 voters out of 350 registered voters in Medfield voted; the largest ever percent in the town of Medfield. In that race Republican Benjamin Harrison defeated Democrat Grover Cleveland 224-92. In the election of 1912 Teddy Roosevelt, who had bolted the Republican party and was running as a progressive Bull Moose candidate, became the first third party Presidential candidate to carry Medfield. Roosevelt gathered 117 votes to Republican Taft’s 112 and Democrat Wilson’s 72. In 1964 Lyndon Johnson became the first Democrat to ever carry Medfield with Johnson receiving 1666 votes to Republican Barry Goldwater’s 1088."
