Thirty Third Week, Wednesday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis.

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"In 1909, John Mitchell succeeded John Sullivan, upon his death, as gateman at the Main Street railroad crossing, whose job was to lower and raise the gate across Main Street on approaching trains. Sullivan, a native of Ireland had lived in Medfield since 1855, where he went to work for Wesley Balch in the old bakery on Main Street, opposite Brook Street. Sullivan was one of the oldest members of St. Edward Church."
