Twenty-eighth Week, Saturday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
Thank you, Richard DeSorgher for writing "Medfield Historical Minutes" for over 6 months during COVID 19. We appreciate it!

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
"In 1951 Bella Avenue (named after the developer’s wife, the former Bella Palumbo) had its name changed to Lowell Mason Road. Lowell Mason, famed musician, leading composer of over 1600 hymns, including Joy to the World and Nearer My God to Thee and founder of music being part of the curriculum in public schools, was born nearby on North Street. In 1951, Article 1 of the Special Town Meeting voted to accept as a Town Way the private road formerly known as Bella Avenue but hereafter to be called “Lowell Mason Road” connecting Green and North Streets."
