A Medfield Historical Minute...

This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.

"The youngest person elected to the Medfield Board of Selectmen was Granville C. Mitchell who was elected in 1909 at the age of 21. Mitchell was the son of Col Edwin V. Mitchell, owner of the hat factory. Granville graduated from Harvard University and was vice president and treasurer of his father’s hat factory, the E.V. Mitchell Company. He died in 1918 due to the Influenza Epidemic at the age of 31. Next youngest Medfield selectmen elected were Edward Beard (1975) and Richard DeSorgher (1980), also in their 20s."
