Twenty-ninth Week, Friday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
In honor of Medfield's 13 founding families, this week's Historical Minutes will focus on three of these founders.

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
*In honor of Medfield’s 13 founding families, this week’s Historical Minutes will focus today and each day this week on two of the founders.
"Francis Hamant came to Medfield from Dedham and received a house lot on South Street but for some reason did not build there. Instead he built a house near Nantasket Brook and Philip Street during the summer of 1652. He died in 1692 and his wife, Sarah, in 1708.

Timothy Dwight lived in Dedham before coming to Medfield. His house lot, of 12 acres was on Frairy Street (Dwight-Derby House) and stretched along North Street up to Dale Street. He was a member of the first Board of Selectman and Medfield’s first Representative to the General Court. At the burning of the town in the King Philip War he was mortally wounded and died a few weeks after the attack."
