Twenty-ninth Week, Sunday's "Medfield Historical Minute"
In honor of Medfield's 13 founding families, this week's Historical Minutes will focus on three of these founders.

A Medfield Historical Minute...
This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.
A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis.
*In honor of Medfield’s 13 founding families, this week’s Historical Minutes will focus today on the last two of the founders, which have been listed all week.
"Thomas Wight is said to have come from the Isle of Wight. He was in Watertown in 1636 and came to Dedham shortly after its settlement. His house lot in Medfield was on Green Street, a short distance from North Street. He was deacon of the church and served 19 years as a selectman. His house was burnt during the attack on Medfield in the King Philip War.

John Wight was the son of Thomas and was over the age of 21 when he came to Medfield as one of the town’s first 13 settlers. His house lot was northeast of his father’s off Green Street. He died in 1653, shortly after his arrival in Medfield."
