Two FREE Showings of “Catching the Sun” A Solar Energy Documentary

The Medfield Energy Committee and the Medfield School Committee have joined forces to co-sponsor two free screenings of the film “Catching the Sun.”

This documentary profiles a diverse group of individuals benefiting from the transition to solar electricity. Renewable energy from solar is one of the key strategies of the Town of Medfield Climate Action Plan to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions in Medfield. Now is a great time to learn about the many positive impacts that renewable energy can have on communities.

The film will be shown at the Medfield High School Auditorium on Monday March 27th at 7 pm; and Sunday April 2nd at 1 pm at the Medfield Public Library.

For those wanting to learn more, check out the Action Portal at sustainablemedfield.org. Read a few testimonials on the Sustainable Medfield site from local homeowners who have solar panels installed and reach out to friends and neighbors to hear their experiences. “Go, Solar, Medfield!” will be the upcoming Action of the Quarter for Sustainable Medfield, so keep an eye out for more information. Another great resource is Energy Sage (energysage.com), which is a non-profit clearinghouse where you can receive multiple competitive, detailed solar quotes and have access to a coach who can help you compare the offers. Potential contractors provide local references.

As a property owner in Medfield, installing solar panels is one of the most important, high-impact actions you can take to help Medfield reach our Net Zero by 2050 Goal. Given the amount of money you could save by doing so, it is basically a no-brainer! If you are considering going solar, experts advise to act soon as the state incentives are being phased out.

Those who are just curious about solar technology and those who are looking into installing solar panels should attend one of the free screenings of the film “Catching the Sun” to learn more about solar energy on March 27th or April 2nd. Members of the Medfield Energy Committee will be present.
