What's Make Christian Community Unique?
Can you secretly bring some elements of Christian community to your secular groups?

Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT) Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
The atmosphere was one of genuine camaraderie. The accomplished volunteer faculty provided helpful presentations and remained available all weekend for individual questions. Participating writers were enthusiastic about each other’s work, offering suggestions, sharing knowledge, and comparing helpful tools and resources. It was a community encouraging one another to share their God-given gift to the best of their ability, all working toward a common goal, and joyful for every success.
While I have never attended a secular writers’ conference, it was noted that they do not share the same atmosphere. Instead of camaraderie, there is competition. Participants are possessive of knowledge and useful tools, hoping to take home a contract-yielding tip no one else acquires. One writer is threatened by another’s success.

The New England Christian Writers’ Retreat was a prime example of Christian community. It was welcoming, prayerful, safe, and uplifting.
