Wheelock School's New "Book Vending Machine"

Medfield's Wheelock Elementary School held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in mid April to celebrate the addition of a "Book Vending Machine"

Wheelock School Welcomes a Book Vending Machine!

At the Wheelock School in mid April, a first of its kind ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the new Book Vending Machine located in the school's cafeteria.

This colorful and innovative addition to the school was purchased from a grant provided by the Medfield Coalition for Public Education.

Board members of the Medfield Coalition for Public Education (MCPE) Katie Morray, Liz Brothers and Liz Whitcher were in attendance along with Holli Caulfield (Wheelock Principal), Jeff Marsden (Superintendent of Schools), Sarah Hevey (Wheelock Librarian), Christine Power (Director of Instruction and Innovation), Kerry Cowell (Librarian & Department) and a few deserving Wheelock School students.

The children invited to take part were chosen from a raffle of students who received "Good News Phone Calls". If a student receives a Good News Phone Call they get to put their name into a
drawing for a coin which is used in the Vending Machine and they choose a book.

Once a coin is placed in the machine, "Inchy" the bookworm speaks and guides the user with instructions on how to choose a book. Click HERE to learn more!

Everyone was very excited to participate in this ceremony. "We are so thankful for the generous donation from the MCPE. The students absolutely LOVE it!!!" stated Principal Caulfield.
