Will the Medfield SWAP SHOP open this Fall?

The Medfield SWAP SHOP will NOT open this Fall but the SWAP Coordinators have many suggested alternatives for now!

Important Information from the Medfield SWAP Coordinators...

Will the SWAP open this Fall?

  • Safety is our #1 concern!
  • Covid-19 is still not totally under control and we want to be on the side of minimizing the spread of the Delta variant.
  • Numerous children ( too young to be vaccinated) frequent the SWAP and play with the very enticing toys.
  • The SWAP area is only partially outside. Many items are enclosed in the 2 tents, where keeping distant is extremely difficult.
  • We deliberated long and hard and determined that the risks outweigh the benefits

Sad to say, the SWAP will not open this Fall, but hopefully, 2022 will be a better time!

We really appreciate the few who offered to help this year and hopefully we will have enough Volunteers to open in May.

Throughout this waiting period and going forward we have offered many alternatives.

  • CurbAlerts every Saturday from 9-1. Be sure to advertise SOMEWHERE so shoppers will know you have items. There is the Medfield SwapShop Facebook page; or email Medfield SwapShop@gmail.com and we will assist you. Other fb groups: Medfield Area Free Stuff; How about Norfolk Area Give and Take? Or the social media site of your choice.
  • Schedule a Sidewalk Pick-up with, e.g., BigBrothersBigSisters by emailing:bbbsinfo@CMRKne.com or calling 508-466-4590 or 508-874-7762; OR VietNamVets at scheduleapickup.com or calling 1-800-775-VETS; OR Salvation Army at 1-800-728-7825.
  • The Transfer Station has partnered with CMRK who picks up household goods and textiles at the DPW Trailer at the Transfer Station. These items are then delivered to BB/BS or MADD.
  • There have been almost-monthly Collections at the SWAP Area of the Transfer Station and another one is happening for Textiles Only through BayStateTextiles on Sept. 11, 9-4. These items are primarily donated to underprivileged Countries.
  • For donating Furniture and Household Items contact NewLifeFurnitureBank, in Walpole 0 website www.newlifefborg or calling 1-774-316-6395.
