Women's Club had a busy year

The year 2022 marked the 128th season of the Hannah Adams Woman’s Club, and it was a busy one. Club events included the annual potluck luncheon, holiday Yankee Swap, and cocktail party; plus presentations by The Computer Mom, Medfield Garden Club, Medfield Public Library, and local author Neal Sanders.

The club also hosted its 56th annual Senior Girls’ Graduation Tea and granted three Hannah Adams Scholarships to graduating Medfield students. Fundraising for the scholarship included raffle baskets at Medfield Day, weekly Bridge at The Center, and miscellaneous donations from the community.

Now, 2023 is shaping up to be a busy year as well. To date, the club has had presentations from Peg Doyle of Wellness and You (Shiatsu) and Wendy Leeds (Easing Anxiety). Upcoming programs include “Celebrating Gal-entine’s Day: The Value of Friendship” (Feb. 7), Beekeeping with Nancy Tella (March 7), and Easy Hikes with Marjorie Turner Hollman (May 2). This year’s annual luncheon and meeting will take place at The Omni Parker House and the Boston Athenaeum. Most programs are open to the public, and everyone is eligible to win the door prize.

The Hannah Adams Woman's Club is the longest continuously-running women's club in America. It was established in 1894 in memory of Medfield resident Hannah Adams (1755-1831, the nation's first female professional writer) who ran a similar group during her lifetime. The HAWC is committed to supporting women and the community, including its annual Hannah Adams Scholarship.
