MEDFORD, MA — Robert J. "Bob" DiGiorgio, the longtime owner of Bob's Italian Foods on 324 Main St., died late last month at the age of 85.

Founded by his parents, the deli-style business has been a fixture in the community for generations and is known throughout Greater Boston for its Italian specialties, prepared foods, large sub sandwiches, and catering.
In addition to running the business, DiGiorgio served on the board of Depositors Trust Company in Lexington and sponsored local youth enrichment programs.
He was known for his devotion to family, pride in his business, and his ability to connect with people. According to the obituary, Bob DiGiorgio had a congenial personality and contagious laughter.
DiGiorgio is survived by his wife, Edie; his sons, Robert DiGiorgio and his husband Andrew Alexander, and Michael DiGiorgio and his wife Jessica; his daughter, Carla Baker and her husband John; and his grandchildren, Amelia, Madeline and Charlotte.
