Medford Park Reopens After Multi-year Renovation Project (patch.com) — Carr Park in South Medford has fully reopened after a multi-year renovation that added a splash pad, playground, dog park, mini skatepark, fitness area, and upgraded courts, including one under a solar pavilion. Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn highlighted the mix of local, state, and federal funding that made the project’s accessibility and climate-resilient features possible, inviting residents to enjoy the new amenities as summer begins.

Medford Rider Honored At Fenway While Raising Money For Cancer Research (patch.com) — Medford resident John Slonimsky is being honored at Fenway Park as part of the Pan-Mass Challenge’s Living Proof community while he rides and raises money for cancer research. Motivated by his own lymphoma diagnosis and multiple family losses, he’s aiming to raise $6,000 this summer, with every dollar supporting Dana-Farber’s Lymphoma and Leukemia Department.

Puppet Showplace Theater Presents: A Pirate's Great Adventure by Peanut's Playhouse at Puppet Showplace Theater Boston (Jul 26, 2026) (broadwayworld.com) — A Medford-based puppeteer is bringing an interactive pirate adventure to Puppet Showplace Theater in Brookline on Sunday, July 26, 2026. Families can pay-what-they-can for the 35‑minute show, then stick around afterward to meet the puppets, enjoy dress‑up, coloring, bubbles, and sidewalk chalk.    

4. BPD Remembers The Service And Sacrifice Of Officer James G. McCann Jr. Who Died In The Line Of Duty 89 Years Ago Today (boston.gov) — Boston Police are honoring Officer James G. McCann Jr., who died in the line of duty in 1937 and was laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. The remembrance highlights his service in Brighton, his surviving family, and permanent tributes including a Hero Sign and memorial engravings in Boston and at the State House.    

5. Which New England Cities Stand Out For Quality Of Life? (wokq.com) — Medford earns a shoutout in a new WalletHub study, ranking 16th among New England’s top small cities for quality of life, affordability, health, and safety.
