3 Melrose Nonprofits Get $1K Boost

These three local nonprofits were selected to each get $1,000.

MELROSE, MA — Three Melrose nonprofits each received a $1,000 from the Woburn-based commercial real estate company Cummings Properties. Community Coalition of Melrose, Melrose Humane Society and Melrose Youth Hockey Association all received the funds.

Cummings Properties recently donated $484,000 to hundreds of local nonprofits through its Employee Directed Giving program, in which an employee selects an organization to receive the $1,000 in their honor.

The Community Coalition of Melrose's annual Grad Night - an all-night 'lock-in' party for seniors on the eve of graduation - will be funded courtesy of Mike Aveni, a senior project architect at Cummings.

“This significant program expansion created even more opportunities for colleagues to think and talk about philanthropy, and to have a significant positive impact on local causes that are meaningful to them,” said Dennis Clarke, Cummings Properties’ chairman and CEO.
