9 Aldermen, 1 Statement: Override Keeps Melrose On Path Forward
Nine of the city's 11 aldermen issued a joint statement asking residents to join them in investing in Melrose.

The following was submitted by Aldermen Manisha Bewtra, Scott Forbes, Jennifer Lemmerman, Kate Lipper-Garabedian, Shawn MacMaster, Peter Mortimer, John Tramontozzi, Frank Wright and Michael Zwirko
On April 2nd, Melrose residents will go to the polls to make a crucial decision about the future of our City. We recognize that you are being asked not only to weigh the needs of our community but also to make a choice that directly impacts your personal finances. We understand and respect the gravity of this decision.
The nine of us come from different backgrounds. We have different professional experiences in law, criminal justice, education, finance, community development, military, and social work. Some of us have lived in Melrose our entire lives while others decided to plant roots here and make it our home. Some of us are parents of children in the schools; some are not. All of us are neighbors. Our time on the Board of Aldermen spans from one year to over seventeen years. After looking at the considerable record of information, the facts, and the numbers - both current and historical - we all agree that a proposition 2 ½ override is the best way to keep our City on a path forward.

We decided to run for public office because we are invested in our community. We wanted to be part of something that is much bigger than any of our own self interests. Our service on the Board of Aldermen is a responsibility that none of us takes for granted and we are all committed to the success of this City. On April 2, we will all be voting YES to invest in Melrose. We ask that you join us.
