Man Arrested After Reportedly Robbing Melrose Dunkin' Location

MELROSE, MA — A man has been charged in connection with the alleged robbery of a Dunkin', according to the Melrose Police Department.

Watertown resident Daniel Clancy, 58, was arrested and charged with unarmed robbery and larceny from a person last week. Clancy was arraigned in Malden District Court on Tuesday, July 21, where he was released on personal recognizance on the new charges but ordered held on two other pending cases out of Cambridge and Quincy district courts.

Police responded to the store at 470 Lynn Fells Parkway on Sunday, July 19 after receiving a report of a robbery. Investigators said a man approached a clerk, gestured toward his waistband while demanding cash, and fled after the clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of money. No injuries were reported during the robbery.

Melrose police officers and detectives reviewed surveillance footage from the incident and identified the suspect as Clancy, who police said was known to the department. Investigators said subsequent investigative work further identified Clancy as the individual allegedly responsible for the robbery.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Clancy in Malden District Court on Monday, July 20. Later that evening, Melrose police worked with the Medford Police Department to locate him. Medford police detectives took Clancy into custody without incident.
