Melrose MBTA Commuter Rail Station Undergoing Accessibility Upgrades

MELROSE, MA — An MBTA Commuter Rail station is undergoing a series of accessibility improvements that will bring temporary parking impacts for passengers over the coming months.

Wyoming Hill Station, located off Franklin Street between West Wyoming Avenue and Glen Road, is currently undergoing tree canopy work as part of a construction project expected to be substantially complete by late fall, according to the city. Parking at the station is expected to be limited.

The MBTA said the project will improve accessibility and the overall customer experience while bringing the station into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Planned upgrades include new ADA-compliant mini-high boarding platforms and ramps, along with other improvements meant to modernize the station's infrastructure and accessibility features.

Wyoming Hill is one of three MBTA Commuter Rail stations in Melrose and is currently not accessible for passengers with disabilities. The station has low-level platforms, making it one of several commuter rail stations the MBTA is upgrading as part of its broader effort to improve accessibility throughout the system.

According to the MBTA's construction schedule, canopy demolition began earlier this month before construction continues through the remainder of the summer and fall. The agency expects the project to reach substantial completion in late fall, with all work scheduled to finish during the winter.
