Malden Catholic Varsity Rugby Players Chosen for U-19 Select Side, Mass. Youth Rugby Organization

Melrose native Conor Andry and Joe Tremblay (Revere) were selected after nomination and two tryouts, to the U-19 Select Side for the Massachusetts Youth Rugby Organization. Andry, a full-back and Trembley, a center, were excited to have been picked to represent Malden Catholic High School.
“These two young men are the first ever to represent their school on this select side”, said Malden Catholic Rugby Coach Josh Skinner. “We hope to recruit more players to our team and send our top guys up to this representative side."
Tremblay, Captain, and Andry, Co-Captain were stand outs on the MC team and its top scorers. The Mass Youth Select side played a tournament at UMass Amherst at the New England Challenge Cup this past Saturday, winning the plate (2nd place).

Rugby is a growing sport in New England with many high schools starting teams, while some schools have long established programs.
Andry and Tremblay agreed that, "Malden Catholic has a great history with this sport. All the guys on the team work hard and represent MC at the highest level. Rugby is a great team sport; you have to be in shape, strong and skillful."

Both young men plan to pursue their rugby playing careers at the next level, Andry at Westfield State University and Tremblay at Merrimack College.
