Obituary for Colin Casey

Colin Casey passed away after a long and courageous battle with kidney and liver disease at the Lahey Clinic in Boston on August 8, 2012 at the age of 53. Colin was born in Summit, New Jersey, moved to Houston, Texas, and graduated from Memorial High School in 1978.  Colin attended Texas State University and Sam Houston State University where he majored in business. After working in construction for many years in the New England area, Colin moved to Cambridge, MA.  He worked for Federal Management for over 20 years. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and spent many good days in the company of his fellow biker friends.  He once rode across the state of Florida from Daytona Beach to St. Petersburg and back again in one day. Colin was a skilled mechanic and took pride in restoring old motorcycles, as well as his late father’s 1971 Fiat Spider sportscar.  He also enjoyed the many renovation projects that he undertook to create his beautiful home in Melrose, MA. Family members and many friends will miss his contagious enthusiasm for life and his rascally sense of humor.   Colin was brother to four siblings; Christopher Casey of Houston, TX, Erin Carmack of Dallas, TX, Elizabeth Casey of Montpelier, VT and Anne Casey of Pueblo West, CO.  He was the son of the late Brian and Dorothy Casey of West Tisbury, MA.  He is survived by several nephews and nieces, cousins and an aunt and an uncle.  A memorial service will be held at the Beebe Estate, 235 West Foster St., Melrose, MA 02176 on Saturday, October 20 at 3pm. Arrangements by The Gately Funeral Home of Melrose.
