The world of Rose and Mel

Most Melrosians know by now the mute swans' couple, aptly called Rose and Mel, who have chosen the Ell Pond to raise their family. As a photographer I quickly became enchanted with their presence here and endeavored to capture their gradual changes from tiny chicks to formidable flying birds. As I followed them for 10 months I was lucky enough to record most of the events of their life here, from the unfortunate culling which brought the brood down to four cygnets, to their joyous moments of proudly exploring and enjoying this little lake of ours. 

The DVD "Rose, Mel and their 7 cygnets" was born out of the desire to tell their story and share it with friends as a Happy New Year gift, a long time French tradition to which I am still accustomed.  But in doing so, I felt I should also tell them about our life in Melrose which I did by including a series of vignettes highlighting some of the best of our city. The ensuing DVD is bilingual (French and English) and is available on Amazon.com.

The very favorable reception by many people was enough to convince me that a showing at the 2012 Victorian Fair on September 9 was an appropriate spot to show it to a wider audience.  The DVDs will be for sale at substantial discounts and each DVDs supplied with its own individual mailer to make it into an instant DVD-post-card to mail to friends, and to spread the word about our beautiful Melrose.
