Bad Driving All Over Melrose Police Log

MELROSE, MA — The following are excerpts from the Melrose Police log from April 30 - May 6. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
Tuesday, May 1
10:31 a.m. - A 23-year-old Chelmsford woman was issued a summons on charges of speeding and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on Upham Street at Woodcrest Drive.

1:59 p.m. - A 25-year-old Malden woman was issued a summons for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on Orris Street at Mendum Street.
5:01 p.m. - A 911 caller reported a woman was hitting an older man at the intersection of Lebanon and Main. Police could not locate.

11:17 p.m. - A caller reported a red van was driving on a flat tired and stopped at Sylvan and Main. A 35-year-old Wakefield man was arrested on charges of OUI liquor, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and bald or defective tires.
Wednesday, May 2
12:29 p.m. - A fight was reported at Green Leak Park, but the youths fled before police arrived.
1:30 p.m. - Someone reported four youths smoking at the West Wyoming train station. Police spoke with them - they were not underage and were smoking cigarettes.
6:07 p.m. - A caller on Washington Street reported a sick raccoon in neighbor's yard.
Thursday, May 3
10:48 a.m. - Someone reported an erratic driver in a blue Chevy Equinox passing vehicles and blowing a red light in front of the Middle School. Police could not locate.
9:26 p.m. - Someone reported a person smoking marijuana outside their Mount Vernon Street apartment. Police could not locate.
Friday, May 4
12:43 a.m. - A motor vehicle stop on Short Street at Green Street resulted in an 18-year-old Saugus man being summonsed on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.
10:02 p.m. - Caller reported kids possibly drinking on Hurd Street. Police spoke with the kids - no drinking.
Sunday, May 6
1:14 p.m - Someone came in to report a past assault. A homeless man was summonsed on charges of domestic assault or assault and battery, intimidating a witness, kidnapping, and larceny under $250.
