According to Monteleone," The Club is entering its 122nd year" It was founded in 1899." Its history as mentioned in the book,The History of Melrose, County of Middlesex, Massachusetts by author Elbridge Henry Goss, states that, "it had its beginning when in the spring of 1899, the membership of the then existing Bellevue Tennis Club, as a nucleus, organized The Bellevue Golf Club." Goss's account further stated that, "it leased the thirty acres belonging to the estate of the late Calvin Locke."
Golfers not only can enjoy the Melrose portion of the course but they can also step into a neighboring town for a short portion of Bellevue's Golf course. Monteleone noted,"the fourth hole (at The Bellevue Golf Club ) goes into Saugus." The town of Saugus, borders on the edge of Melrose.

Golf is not the only enjoyment for the membership of The Bellevue Golf Club.
Monteleone says,"The Club has other activities besides golf - tennis, a pool and social activities. but no nature trails. The property is member owned and is strictly for their own and their guests use." He related also that "the club is family driven."
The best part of Monteleone's job, he says, "is being part of the community and serving the 430 members."
