Bomb Threat at Melrose Middle, High Schools Poses No Threat: Police

A bomb threat was called in to Melrose Veteran's Memorial Middle School and Melrose High School Monday morning.

MELROSE, MA—Students at Melrose Veteran's Memorial Middle School and Melrose High School were sheltered in place Monday after a bomb threat came in via robo-call.

According to a joint statement by the Melrose Police Department and the Superintendent's office, students were sheltered in place temporarily as police and fire searched the building. This was one of more than a dozen incidents of bomb threats at Massachusetts Schools.

“I am pleased that the established security and response protocols worked flawlessly in this case,” Superintendent Cyndy Taymore said. “The security and safety of our students, faculty, and staff is paramount, and we are grateful for the rapid and professional response of the Melrose Police and Fire Departments.”
