Melrose Kindergarten Registration Information for 2013-2014

Melrose Public Schools invites families of students entering Kindergarten are invited to participate in the following events:

Information Night

  • Thursday, Jan. 24: Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School Auditorium at 7 p.m. Meet and greet with school department personnel and building principals to learn about our schools and the online pre-registration process.

Open House Nights

  • Monday, Jan. 28: Hoover and Winthrop Schools from 5-7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 29: Lincoln and Roosevelt Schools from 5-7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 30: Horace Mann School from 5-7 p.m.

Tours will begin promptly at 5 p.m., 5:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. from the all-purpose room at each school.

Pre-Registration

Online pre-registration will open at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 1 and close at 11 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17. Why pre-register? Pre-registering will expedite your visit during the registration process. Please see requirements listed below:

Registration Information

  • Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 4-8 p.m. at Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School, 350 Lynn Fells Parkway, in the cafe.
  • Thursday, Feb. 28 from 8:30 a.m.-noon at Parent Information Center (Central Administration), 360 Lynn Fells Parkway.
  • Friday, March 1 from 8:30 a.m.– 3 p.m. at Parent Information Center (Central Administration), 360 Lynn Fells Parkway.

Parents who require translation services are requested to attend the Feb. 28 registration.

Requirements for Kindergarten:

Must be 5 years of age by Sept. 1, 2013. Parents must attend a registration session to provide original copies of proof of residency (per the Melrose Public Schools Procedures for DeterminingResidency in Melrose, which is a part of the registration packet); birth certificate (must be original copy with raised seal); and a copy of most current physical exam and immunizations.

NOTE: Registrations received after March 1 will result in assignments being made on a space available basis.

Registration information will be available beginning Friday, Jan. 25 at the following locations:

  • Our Elementary Schools
  • The Parent Information Center located at Central Administration
  • The Early Childhood Center at the Franklin School
  • The Melrose Public Library
