Our Next 10 Years at Seven Mile Road
A look at the future for Seven Mile Road in Melrose and neighboring communities.
The last 18 months have been wild at Seven Mile Road.
We bought a building, which is nearly done being updated. We multiplied from one Seven Mile Road (Malden) to two (Malden and Melrose), all while continuing to aggressively incubate a church plant in Wakefield, which gets launched in two weeks.
We've sent a pastor to a church planting in Wisconsin, called a pastor to lead our Malden congregation, sent a pastor to lead a church planting movement in Tanzania and are about to send another to Wakefield. We’ve broadened our understanding of what our smaller communities can (and need to) be. We’ve multiplied from one band to four. Whew!

In all of this our Father has been inexpressibly kind to us. I really don’t know how to type it so that you can understand. We’ve remained united through all this mad change, we’ve seen members of Jesus’ body here step up and take responsibility for the church and her mission in so many beautiful ways, we’ve taken big steps toward being more generous givers and we’ve necessarily had to really believe the gospel in deeper ways for any of this to happen. And...we are just getting started.
Since April we have been prayerfully meeting with all Seven Mile Road to talk about our future together. And not just future like "the next few months" future, but future like "the next 10 years’ future."

We’ve been talking about what it would look like for us to pursue a specific strategy together for seeing many, many greater Bostonians hearing the gospel, believing the gospel, being discipled and living on mission with us. We’ve been calling it “Our Next 10 Years Together.” It’s been so moving to have lots of conversations in lots of different settings and dreaming big about what we could be a part of if we really gave ourselves to each other and to the work of the gospel in our time and place.
Over the next few weeks we’re going to post in depth through each element of the vision that has emerged.
For starters, here’s a pdf file that summarizes the significant elements of our vision: Our Next 10 Years.
We know that all our plans are tentative and uncertain and wholly dependent upon the grace and intentions of God. But ambition can be a godly thing, and we’re going for this hard together. We’d love for you to join us.
