Fire Closes Bruegger's Bagels For Day
The question now is just when Bruegger's will reopen.
MELROSE, MA — Firefighters caught what was said to be a smoldering fire in the basement of Bruegger's Bagels, but not before enough damage was done to close the store for at least the rest of Wednesday.
A burning smell was emanating into Main Street and the rear parking lot Bruegger's shares with other businesses, including Shaw's. The situation was quickly under control after firefighters responded, but the bagel shop was closed for at least the day.
A manager at Bruegger's told Patch the plan was to open Thursday morning at its normal time, but nothing was set in stone. A couple firefighters Patch spoke to seemed skeptical of that possibility, but didn't rule it out.

Bruegger's is at 496 Main Street, across from the Melrose Y. It was the first Jamba Juice co-branded location to open in America, according to a 2016 press release.
