MELROSE, MA — A woman went to the hospital after she drove into a pizza shop on West Wyoming Ave. near the train tracks early Sunday evening. The woman suffered what are believed to be minor injuries, fire officials on scene told Patch.

No one else was injured when the car plowed into Theo's Pizzeria & Deli. It's unknown how many people were in the restaurant, which was open at the time of the crash.

"No one was sitting in this [front] area inside at the time, thank God no one walking on the side on the sidewalk at the time," fire Captain Peter Grant told Patch.

Responders did not say what caused the crash or if the driver stopped at the stop sign, but it appeared the car failed to navigate the left turn from Pleasant Street to West Wyoming.

"It sounded bad," said one nearby resident who heard the crash.
