K of C Free Throw Championship

Are you ready to take your best shot for Melrose bragging rights?
 
All boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level of the national Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship on Sunday, Feb. 19 from 2-4 p.m. at the Melrose YMCA, 497 Main Street. Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. and there is no charge to enter.
 
Participants are required to provide proof of age and a completed entry form signed by a parent or guardian. Participants are encouraged to print an entry form from the Melrose Knights of Columbus website www.melrosekofc.org and bring it filled in to the contest on Feb. 19. Entry forms will also be available at the door.
 
Based on the youth's age as of Jan. 1, participants will compete against others of the same age and gender. All participants will be recognized with a certificate. Competitors will take 15 free throws and the boy and girl from each age group who makes the most will receive an award as Melrose champion and advance to the district competition on Saturday, Feb. 25 in Andover. There is the possibility to advance further to the regional competition on March 24 at Reading Middle School and finally the state championship April 7 at Regis College.
