When you enter Greenwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, you are immediately welcomed by friendly staff in a bright, inviting entrance with tile floors and vibrant and stimulating artwork. Wall colors were chosen very carefully by professional decorators to ensure a soothing atmosphere. Greenwood’s grounds, which are meticulously kept, feature many types of flowers, a vegetable garden, and an inviting patio for residents to relax on during beautiful sunny days. Greenwood also features a wrap-around porch, reminiscent of days of old, which has charming wicker chairs and several tables where residents can enjoy daily snacks.

Greenwood has a Director of Activities on staff every day of the week who makes sure to keep residents engaged and active. Some of the fulfilling activities include walking groups which provide daily exercise, monthly trips to the movie theater, weekly hairdressing appointments, and monthly communion. Greenwood also features a large print library for residents who want to immerse themselves in a fun novel. Also, nurse practitioners are on staff weekly to monitor resident health. Greenwood also requires monthly doctor and dietician visits. A social worker and a team of psychiatric experts are on staff to help deal with depression and mental health issues as well.

Residents at Greenwood are very content with their living situations. A man who has been living at Greenwood for several years always appreciates the prompt meal services, especially the snack cart, which makes three rounds a day. This resident also stressed to me that he appreciates receiving his daily medications from the registered nurses in a timely and efficient manner.

Greenwood understands that many elders don’t want to feel like they’re living in a hospital or hotel; they want to feel like they’re at home. The administration and staff carefully consider how they can make each and every resident feel like Greenwood has been their only home. Greenwood has extended visiting hours, and has added more summer barbeques and special events to promote a congenial atmosphere.
