How- TO Master Your Lunchtime Workout

I have been killing the lunchtime workouts lately. The 9-5 means A LOT of siting. I recently heard that sitting leads to an early death on a podcast, google that and you can see several studies showing too much sitting brings the DOOM. Needless to say, I have started to embrace breaking up the day by working out during the lunch hour. I quickly realized that to leave my desk at 12pm and be back within 60 minutes is an art. Below are steps to help you master the art of the lunchtime workout!

1.       Bag- your workout bag needs to contain JUST the items you need. If you spend 5 minutes rummaging through everything, you are now down to 55 minutes.  If you know me, I am a bag lady. I have bags for everything. I am also a chronic over-packer. I pack as if I was never going to see a store again and the world would end tomorrow. Well, I made my workout bag minimalistic so you can too!

                a.       What do you need?
                                                           i.      Workout clothes- shorts, tee shirt, socks, sneakers, and sports bra(ladies)
ii.      Any workout accessories- headphones, ipod, heart rate monitor
                                                           iii.      Deodorant
                                                           iv.      Body/face wipes
                                                            v.      Ladies- tinted face moisturizer, mascara, hairspray, and dry shampoo
                b.      Organization of bag
                                                             i.      Clothes/sneakers on top
ii.      Any small accessories in pockets of bag
iii.      Anything you need for after on the bottom
2.       Get to gym
               a.       Change as quickly as possible
               b.      But bag at bottom of locker
               c.       Fold work clothes and place on top
               d.      If female put hair in a bun(like a ballerina)
               e.      GO GO GO
3.       Getting Sweaty
               a.       Do not be afraid to sweat
               b.      Have a plan, do not spend this time walking around thinking about what you will do next
               c.       Warm up, workout, cool-down
4.       After sweating
               a.       Remove sweaty shirt to help cool your body
               b.      Use face/body wipes to wipe face first, then wipe upper body (don’t forget the pits J )
               c.       Apply fresh deodorant
               d.      Remove sweaty shorts, use wipes on lower body using no shame! Wipe all sweaty areas, no one likes a smelly co-worker!
              e.      Put on work clothes
              f.        Fix hair- if female take out of bun, finger comb and use dry shampoo. Put hair half up with clip, use hairspray for fly-aways and head band if needed.
              g.       Face lotion. I suggest the tinted kind if you are a female, appears more put together. If male the tingly one that I know exists!
              h.      If female- apply a freshen up coat of mascara
5.   Back to your desk & refueling by 1pm :)
