Jack Eccles: A Vote for Melrose’s Future

A community ensures its future success by lifting up its next generation of leaders. My choice for the future of Melrose is Jack Eccles.

I have known Jack for seven years. Then and now, I have been impressed by what I have witnessed firsthand. He leads by example, stepping up to do the hard work to get the job done.

Jack is a lifelong Melrose resident and a proud product of the Melrose Public Schools. As a student representative for the Melrose School Committee, he was thoughtful and laser-focused on finding ways in which students, administrators and government officials could work together to improve the school community.

A recent graduate of UMass Amherst, Jack returned to make Melrose his permanent home. Like many before him, he is invested in making his hometown an even better place to live for current residents and for those who come after him.

Jack will offer a fresh perspective into some of our city’s biggest challenges. His priorities are aspirational and achievable. They include establishing an Implementation Committee to follow through on the goals created in the Melrose Master Plan. He is also committed to exploring fiscally responsible opportunities to restore our public safety buildings and meeting the city’s threshold for affordable housing for senior citizens and young families.

A young professional working in the technology sector, Jack can offer some innovative ideas for increasing access to our government. His willingness to try something different will energize the conversation at City Hall with new ways of thinking about old problems.

Most of all, Jack is a great person. He is kind, smart and open to what others have to say. These are traits that will serve him well as a public servant.

A vote Jack Eccles is a step forward for our city. Please join me in electing him as Melrose Councilor-at-Large on Nov. 5.
