Kowloon Adding Outdoor Seating Area

More than 100 seats will open in an outdoor tent during the summer as a bit of an experiment.

SAUGUS, MA — The Kowloon has received temporary approval to open an outdoor eating this summer, with the potential an area being open up to half the year moving forward.

The Daily Item reported last week that the Saugus Board of Selectman approved Kowloon's outdoor seating request, which will allow food and alcohol to be served in an 1,800-square-foot outdoor area. The 30-foot by 60-foot tent behind the restaurant will fit 106 seats.

There have been concerns of noise and safety.
