I own quite a variety of sports bras. I have my favorites, my in betweens, and the ones I only wear when I missed laundry day. You will notice, I am a fan of colors!
So what are my favorites? Great question. I think different sports bras are perfect in different situations. Yes, I have thought a lot about this! I have also tested all of the bras listed below. The two lululemon high impact favorites have got me through marathons and Ironmans with minimal bounce and no chafe.
Favorite for Low-Impact or “hanging” activities: C9 by Champion Seamless with Removable Pads. Find it at Target or online here, Best low impact
Why you ask? Well it is the most comfortable sports bra I have ever worn. It does not dig in anywhere. The pads/lining is a necessity in all of my favorites. I have no interest in letting the public know the whereabouts of my nipples and prefer to keep them hidden :).(TMI?). Now, let me emphasize, I would only wear this for low impact activities such as; yoga, biking, and walking. It is not super supportive. If you happen to be a woman with a small chest that does not need much taming, you could definitely wear it for other activities but if you are going to bounce, not suggested! If you are looking for comfort and some style in your low-impact activities that fits in your budget, this is for you!
Favorite for High Impact Activities: Energy by Lululemon Find it at lululemon in store or here
Why? 1. It has removable pads(see above). 2. It is comfortable and there is no chafing or digging 3. It offers support needed for modest chested woman during high impact activities 4. The back is super cool(that counts for something right?Favorite for High Impact of a Budget: So, I need to be honest. My actual purchased bra was from Old Navy for a mere $16. However, I think the company caught on to the potential of the bra. The high impact padded bra at Old Navy now, not so hot. The one at the Gap, pretty much what I have from Old Navy except $36 BUT they currently are on sale for $24 :). Find it in store or here
Why? Again, removable pads. For a lower price point it makes me feel secure for a lack of a better word. Also, huge fan of the V cut. The last thing I want is to feel strangled by my sports bra!
Best for races/runs that you need to stash: I have 2! My favorite is the Stuff your Bra by Lululemon and the close second is Stow N Go by North Face.
Why? Now, Lululemon did not win because I like the name better(even though I do). I feel it offers a high level of support, what can I say, I like to banish the bounce. The Lululemon bra has the removable pads, North Face is lined. Both have a pocket in the front. Again, I like Lululemon’s pocket better because it is separated into 3 sections, making the pockets tighter and decreases the movement of what you place inside. However, I cannot tell you the difference between one of these bras and a typical sports bra if you are a bra stuffer while running. You may say to yourself, I can just shove my gel, keys, iPod down my regular sports bra against my chest. I am here to tell you a gel will cut you. I have done it several times and every time ended up with cuts. The last time was a month or so ago because my stuffing bras were dirty. I still have a mark! Not worth it!
Here is the bad news: Lululemon DISCONTINUED there Stuff your Bra. For me, it is like waking up on Christmas and finding coal. You can buy them off Ebay from people who have purchased and never worn. I would highly suggest it! The sizes of bras are consistent in Lulu, my Energy and Stuff my Bra are the same size.
