Lessons Learned

Within our basketball framework, we teach life lessons, too. On the court, it's far more about responsibilities than rights.

Whether you're a coach, or a parent, or a community leader, your job is to make the people around you (team, family, citizens) better, to add value. To the extent that you do so, credit is reflected.

Even in Patch blogs, we hear about MINDFULNESS. In The Winner's Brain, we learn that meditation and a positive attitude can improve brain structure and function through neuroplasticity. Far less academically, Jon Gordon shares his approach in The Positive Dog, Soup, Training Camp, and The Energy Bus. For example, Gordon writes "ENTHUSIASM attracts more passengers and energizes them during the ride" and "ENGAGED RELATIONSHIPS are the foundation upon which winning teams are built."

Anger and recriminations build neither relationships nor community. Where we feel the community can improve, get engaged, suggest change for improvement. If you have specialized skills and knowledge that our leaders can use, share with them.
