Let's Support Leila for City Councilor At-Large

Leila possesses the qualities we want in those that lead

I am a Melrose resident and small business owner. I am also vice chair of the Melrose Human Rights Commission; an attorney; and, most importantly, I am a parent of a Horace Mann Husky.

Through our work together on the Melrose Human Rights Commission, I’ve gotten to know Leila both personally and professionally. In that time, there have been three things that have stood out to me about Leila: (1) Dynamic leadership: Leila’s level of understanding combined with a take-charge mentality makes her someone with whom people want to work; (2) Accountability: She has not only asked tough questions, she’s worked to find uncommon solutions by consistently stepping up to accept responsibility for tasks; and, (3) Thoughtfulness: Leila has solved problems with creative thinking, being open-minded and old-fashioned hard work.

I believe what distinguishes Leila from others is that she is a leader who is interested in actually doing the job, not simply having the job. She’s not afraid to roll up her sleeves and put in the time to accomplish a task -- in fact, she cherishes hard work. I support Leila for City Councilor-at-Large, because she knows how to best use her own strength to lift up those around her; because she is a steady hand in both times of calm and change. And, as a small business owner, I know she has our interests at heart, to help grow the city in a smart, sustainable way.

I believe Leila has the unique ability to bring common sense solutions to City Hall in a manner that will unite the residents that have resided here for decades, as well as the young families that just moved to town. She wants what’s best for our community -- our businesses and our families. For all of those reasons, I am excited to support Leila for City Councilor-at-Large on November 5th.
