Marianne Stanton Retires from Melrose Public Library

Beloved Children's Librarian Retires After Thirty-seven Years

After thirty-seven years of devoted service to the Melrose Public Library, Children’s Librarian Marianne Stanton is retiring at the end of May. She has won the hearts of generations of children, making personal connections with each child. Marianne has worked tirelessly with humor and enthusiasm to keep up with the changing needs of the community, providing excellent, up to date resources and wide ranged programs. Her Baby Steps Story Times have been extremely popular, most recently on Facebook Live.

Library assistant, Kathryn Walton will be assuming the Children’s Librarian role upon Marianne’s retirement.

Due to the restrictions related to the coronavirus, we are not able to say goodbye to Marianne in person. A drive by the Library parade in celebration of Marianne’s retirement will take place at 1p.m on Saturday, May 30th rain or shine. All are welcome to meet at the Cedar Park train station to line up. Decorate your car, make a sign, or just join in honking and hooting!
