If it were up to an environmental group called “Committee for a Green Environment” http://www.committeeforagreeneconomy.com/), Massachusetts residents would have to pay a “Carbon Tax” on gasoline, home heating oil, and other fossil fuels. This group is working hard to put this initiative on the next statewide ballot; however, they recently dropped their campaign because of complexity of the issues, weak fund-raising, and potential constitutional challenges to the question. The group did an analysis and determined that they could raise 2.5 billion dollars with these added taxes which could then be used for investments into alternative energy sources such as solar, wind, as well as for transportation improvements. Please tell me where have we heard this before?
I’ll tell you…..in the 1.9 billion dollar tax hike that the Democrats passed 2-3 years ago as well as in the 500 billion dollar tax hike that the Democrats just passed in this most current budget! Now this group wants to tack on another 2.5 billion dollar tax hike on us! All I can say is that this state is certainly blessed with delusional, out-of-touch, left wing liberals, who believe that nobody should have any money to spend and that we all should be working for the government! I say loudly NO, NO, and NO again! I do not want to work for the government and I want to keep my money so that I can spend it the way I wish and on what I want! As long as we continue to elect liberal Democrats, this state will remain susceptible to these types of taxes.
